About anti-racism education

Educators, we present to you an exciting opportunity! On this website, you will find 16 anti-racism education sessions: 8 lessons for Key Stage 1 and 8 lessons for Key Stage 2. These lessons have been designed for use in Form Time, PHSE, Assemblies or Circle Time. We are currently adding the finishing touches to our Secondary resources (16 lessons for Key Stages 3 and 4), and these will be made available soon.

Our goal is to raise the profile of anti-racism education and wider social justice pedagogy.

Education is a tool for social justice. Our aim is to empower students and teachers to explore the ways in which learning about ‘race’ and racism can help us to challenge the unequal systems that surround us in society.

Long term, our aim is to support teachers in applying the principles of anti-racism education and social justice pedagogy to all aspects of the curriculum.

We believe that every subject area and topic, across the Key Stages, can represent a diverse range of voices and perspectives. We believe in the importance of raising racial literacy levels for both staff and students. We believe that education can inspire students, nurture critical thinking and enable students to grapple with complex questions. We believe in dialogic education, and in amplifying the voices of our young people.

Our stand-alone unit by no means ‘does the job’ of interrupting systemic racism, but we believe it provides an exciting, impactful first step for schools with strong social justice values.
